Chartered Surveyor & Project Manager

Managing Director

Managing Director, Scott, is a Chartered Building Surveyor, a Fellow of the RICS (FRICS) and a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb) and a Chartered Member of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (MCABE). Scott is also an RICS Regulated Expert Witness and an affiliate of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists. Scott is currently undertaking a Masters in MSc Building Conservation and Adaptation.
 
Scott has been in the construction industry since leaving school. Over 19 years, and in that time, Scott has worked with organisations in most sectors of the industry.
 
Managing projects from residential alterations to project managing five-star restaurants on the likes of Marina Bay Sands (Singapore) roof top. Scott was the lead project manager / client representative for Hewlett-Packard’s 300,000sqft new Asia headquarters. He was also lead project manager for Southampton F.C. Staplewood training complex, Deutsche Bank re-stack, AstraZeneca office relocation and much more.
 
In addition to Scott’s years working for leading global real estate consultancies Deloitte, CBRE and Faithful+Gould, Scott also has experience working as a QS for a main contractor, Kier.
 
Scott has been involved in high-value expert witness claims, due diligence engagements, design / specification projects and specialises in strategic project management. Following projects through from feasibility to operation.
 
As a Chartered Surveyor, Scott acts with transparency, integrity and ensures the client / consultant experience is an enjoyable and honest relationship. Scott’s objective is to protect his clients from risk. He has experience working for both contractor and as a consultant so doesn’t miss a trick!
 
In his spare time Scott is a 4 x World Championship level IRONMAN athlete and has represented Team GB Age Group for Middle Distance triathlon and UCI Road Cycling.
Peter Leadbetter

PETER LEADBETTER
Mechanical & Electrical Engineer

Technical Director

Technical Director, Peter is one of the founding directors at James Scott Associates. Peter is a Mechanical & Electrical Project Engineer with a wealth of experience in procurement, contractor management, value engineering and commercial management.
 
Peter has been a spearhead for the NHS over the past 30+ years with expertise and focus in building services integration. He has led projects in industrial, healthcare, retail, catering, hospitality, corporate real estate and has a keen eye for statuary regulations and compliance.
 
As an expert in Building Services, Pete has a wealth of experience in maintenance and facilities management (FM). He has a leading knowledge on HVAC systems and integration and understand client requirements and sensible solutions for creating the correct environment.
 
Peter supports the firms MEP design and surveying services. Driving better built-environment performance, unlocking economic, environmental and social value. Working closely with architects and property owners from the point of designing bespoke mechanical, electrical and plumbing services for the building through to post-construction.
 
We design mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems based on efficiencies that minimise operation costs for both new builds and refurbishment projects. On refurbishment projects, we identify energy deficiencies in mechanical, electrical and plumbing services in existing buildings and find ways to improve their overall performance.
 
The MEP consultancy services are an essential part of our building services consultancy.
 
In Peter’s spare time he makes the most of travelling and cycling, he hates a headwind. Peter is a big Blackpool fan and can be seen as a regular at Bloomfield Road.

Jack Tasker MSc
Quantity Surveyor

Jack Tasker is a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor at James Scott Associates, bringing expertise in all aspects of commercial quantity surveying.

With a Master’s degree in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution, Jack excels in providing early cost advice, preparing detailed cost plans, overseeing contract administration, and managing procurement processes.

His specialist knowledge of the NEC4 form of contracts ensures tailored and effective solutions for clients, making him a trusted professional in the field.

George Jacques
Assistant Building Surveyor

George Jacques is an enthusiastic Assistant Building Surveyor at James Scott Associates, currently pursuing a degree apprenticeship at UCLAN with the goal of becoming a Chartered Surveyor.

With hands-on experience working for a builder and a facilities management company, George brings practical knowledge and a proactive approach to his role.

He thrives in project management, enjoying collaboration with clients and contractors alike. A keen rugby player, George’s team spirit shines through in his work—though his support for PNE might occasionally raise an eyebrow!

Mai-Yee is our Executive Assistant and the indispensable linchpin of James Scott Associates, ensuring the smooth running of the firm.

With a BA (Hons) in English Language and Literature, Mai-Yee combines exceptional communication skills with a talent for organisation and prioritisation. As the first point of contact for clients, her customer-focused approach sets the tone for the firm’s professional and approachable ethos.

Adept at managing work streams and liaising with multiple stakeholders, Mai-Yee plays a pivotal role in fostering efficient communication and collaboration across the team.

Laura Barton
Surveying Administrator.

Laura is our Surveying Administrator and the first point of contact for clients at James Scott Associates, providing a calm, knowledgeable presence at every stage of the customer journey.

With a strong background in property and financial services, including her CeMAP qualification and experience as a Mortgage Advisor, Laura brings a detailed understanding of client needs, compliance, and communication. Her ability to translate complex processes into clear, reassuring guidance makes her a trusted voice for homeowners and stakeholders alike.

Focused on service quality and smooth delivery, Laura plays a key role in ensuring enquiries are handled efficiently and that every client receives attentive, professional support from first contact through to completion.

Tyler Sutton
Graduate Building Surveyor

Tyler Sutton is an energetic, positive, and client-focused Graduate Building Surveyor currently completing his MSc in Building Surveying at the University of Salford. With a strong interest in building pathology and residential project management, Tyler brings enthusiasm and attention to detail to every project he is involved in. Coming from a family background in construction, he has developed a natural passion for the built environment and the technical challenges within it.
 
Tyler is currently undertaking his RICS APC journey with James Scott Associates, where the team is supporting and developing him towards becoming a Chartered Building Surveyor in the near future. His proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and strong communication skills make him a valued member of the practice and a trusted point of contact for clients.
 
Outside of work, Tyler is a keen Liverpool FC supporter who enjoys travelling and keeping fit. A true team player with a positive outlook, Tyler is a great asset to the James Scott Associates team and is committed to delivering the highest level of service while continuing to grow his professional expertise.

Chairman

As a golden retriever with an impeccable work ethic, Como takes his role as Office Morale Manager very seriously. His key responsibilities include keeping everyone calm and cheerful with expert-level cuddles, looking exceptionally cute at all times, and gently pawing your leg to request much-needed pats. When not boosting team spirit, Como can usually be found resting, because being this important is exhausting.

Frankly, the office wouldn’t function half as well without him.
